Over my career I have had some interesting discussions regarding the usage of regular expressions (RegEx), most of them have dealt primarily with the incredible power that RegEx places in the hands of a Software Engineer, recently I found myself in a brief discussion which challeneged me to defend the practical aspects of RegEx; mainly, is it practical?

Inspired by a a recent search my father is doing into our Genealogy, I sought the Prevost Family Crest, and much to my dismay, it doesn't seem to exist; atleast not the one that would be connected to our exact bloodline. I also found a lot fo online companies that say they have your family's crest, but in reality it's some mass-produced image that they just swap varying surnames in and out of.
