All too often I become less than thankful, less than appreciative and less than humble. I have a great tendency to think much more highly of myself than I ought; whether feeling as though all my ideas and talents are driving the new developments at work, or that ‘my way’ is the most efficient/logical. Most men, no offense to the gender, tend to have these same issues in abundance, however, I find that as I grow in maturity in Christ, I become more and more ready to point the finger at myself; usually right after I say something like

We celebrated our nephews birthdays yesterday, which is always a nice treat. We get to see my sister’s family, which is something rare due to time constraints in all of our lives. It can also be an awkward time, not only for the typical family reasons, sadly, but also due to some very differing views on child rearing. My entire life has been filled with music. At various ages and seasons I have played recorder, harmonica, djembe, saxaphone, udu, bongo, guitar, didgeridoo, and mandolin. I even tried my hand (or throat) at singing a few times, but we won’t talk about that. Through those years and seasons it was discovered that I really should do more music listening than playing… which I have. Along with discovering my talents at annoying my friends and embarrassing my parents, I was introduced to some great musicians.
